Classic ATV Auctions
Legendary ATV Society is pleased to announce the exclusive auction listing for this beautiful low hour, factory original example of the 1984 Honda 200s. While not quite falling fully into the suspended sport segment of the 1984 Honda Line up – the ATC 200s was designed to walk and balance the line between Honda's utility class and sport class - while being the center point of their adult and entry level youth bikes. The 1984 200s was an update to the wildly popular 185s and played a pivotal role in the entry level sport and utility market through 1986.
This particular ATC 200s comes from an unlisted private collection and was purchased from it’s original owner. While having been ridden and enjoyed over the years the machine was adult owned, well maintained and ultimately saw very low overall use for it’s age - with a key indicator being the original tires showing around 85% tread remaining along with fully intact factory original hand grips showing marginal overall ware. No restoration work, touch ups or refinishing was performed on this machine, and is being shown in what the owner feels is it's truly authentic state. No motor work or repairs were reported when initially purchased or performed afterward, with only the two brake levers having been replaced with NOS factory units by current owner due to previous owners preference of the U shaped contour that some riders add to their clutch and break levers. ( Bike comes with the original levers and NOS Honda packaging for new levers. ) Finally the recoil rope was reported to have been replaced by original owner because "it looked old".
Being reported to start every time, even on winter days with 2-3 pulls – bike runs and idles perfectly, does not smoke, 5 speed semi auto shifts smoothly delivering the quick throttle response and pep these machines are known for, with their well tuned factory motors. Chassis, wheel bearings and brakes are all tight and function as should. Factory original tank is clean, no holes – factory original fenders are complete and without breaks, Original ohtsu pro-am tires have no plugs and hold air as should, headlight and tail light also operate as intended at the hand switch with a hi-low beam in front. Partial tool kit still intact as well as OE air filter.
While being in excellent original condition, this machine does show some normal signs of age and ware as well as some light damage as *noted in the blemish pictures below. Seat has around a 2.5” split in the right rear corner, this is a low stress area so the split has not enlarged but should probably be taped over or sealed if new owner intends to use as a rider. Tank has a very shallow dent on the upper left hand side about the size of a quarter, which could probably easily be pulled out with PDR tools. Tires do show a few very random small shallow surface cracks, but are supple, soft and do not leak. The sub frame on the lower right hand side has a decent ding in it – but does not affect the function or use of the machine, and no other notable damage appears around that area or under the machine.
The top rear fenders near the rear decals have some light surface spider webbing. The plastic posts on lower seat pan that fit into a set of rubber grommets are missing – despite this flaw, the seat stays firmly locked in place with it’s primary latch and rubber suction grommets that adhere to the tank. ( This detail was never noticed until the these photos were taken ) Original decals are all in place, but some are slightly dog eared or have been damaged ( rear fender decals ) Small ding in left rear wheel. Other than these noted blemishes, the machine does retain some other signs of age and general use like oxidation, light scratching and nicks - but overall shows extremely well for an original 37 year old off road vehicle that is a true survivor.
