Classic ATV Auctions
Legendary ATV Society is pleased to announce the exclusive auction listing for this amazing, like new, factory original example of the 1998 Yamaha YFS200 Blaster. Originally introduced in 1988 a year after the Yamaha Warrior and Yamaha Banshee - the Blaster served as Yamaha's entry level youth sport atv, leaving this machine as the only 2 Stroke under 250cc's in the market being produced by one of the big 4. The combination of a sporty well tuned and balanced 195cc motor, coupled with a manual 6 speed transmission made this nimble machine a ton of fun to ride, while also featuring remarkable dependability - which ultimately ranked this machine a favorite in the marketplace and became a top seller for Yamaha. The Blasters wild popularity can be defined simply by stating that production was maintained on this machine, with it virtually being unchanged outside of cosmetics until 2006!
Purchased from the original owner several months ago, the current owner didn't have the heart to watch this machine be ridden and potentially destroyed by the younger children of the family, whom which it was originally intended to be for. Quite simply, they recognized the condition based on the age of this like new unit, and decided it belonged with a collector. With little overall story to tell about the origin or history of this machine, the photos and video of this immaculate showroom example very clearly tell their own tale.
Revealing essentially no ware on any of the key contact points when a rider operates an atv like this, lends us to make an educated guess that this machine was likely never ridden, other than to start it and possibly move it around, since new. Frame, heel guards, foot pegs, shifter all retain what appears to be perfect factory paint coverage, without even light scuffing. Factory plastics and seat retain their original shine, swing arm, axle, shocks and motor.. all appear cosmetically like new. Tires even look to have no noticeable ware. There is no noted damage or blemishes mentioned by seller, and as far as we can identify only shows a light scuff on the bumper.
Going further into detail on what appears to be the closest now classic machine we have ever seen listed here, that could almost be categorized as "New Old Stock", lets take an even closer look beginning with - A-Arms, Brake drums and tie rods that retain perfect factory finish, dash pad, tank, tank cap, handle bars all show no visible ware or normal signs of use based on these photos. Hand grips, handle bar control and even clutch lever show no visible sign of consistent user contact. Factory warning labels are all intact, the brake cable adjusters even look to be at factory positions.
In closing, the only non factory original items present on this machine are the air filter which was replaced do to age / deterioration and the aftermarket crossbar pad that had been put on by the original owner. ( OE units still available for purists ) While the Yamaha Blaster does not garner the prestige of it's big brother the Banshee, it does have a large current fan base and are becoming collectible as 2 Strokes become more and more of a rarity and novelty - with no new 2 stroke atv's having been produced since around 2006. While discussing availability, price and value come into play - the last new Blasters that sold in 2006 had a MSRP of $3299.00. The 1998 Blasters had a MSRP of $2999.00. So in the course of 8 Years, inflation raised the price of these machines by $300.00. Using this metric a new 2021 Blaster ( if one could be purchased ) would retail for roughly $4000.00, which is where the reserve is set for this literally like new, show room condition time capsule.
