Classic ATV Auctions
Legendary ATV Society is pleased to announce the exclusive auction listing for this incredible low hour 1985 TRX125. Introduced as a cross over from the popular youth oriented ATC 125M, the TRX125 represented Honda's ongoing expansion and growth of their four wheeled platforms which began with a single machine in the 1984 model year. Sharing basically the entire back of it's construction with it's brother the ATC 125M, with only reverse being added and a gearing update, the TRX125 is a visceral rendering of transition from old to new market trends, that would complete their cycle by 1987.
This particular TRX125 comes from a seller who purchased this awesome survivor from it's original owner. Reported to have been purchased as a gift from her husband that had recently bought a Honda Big Red that year - the two enjoyed using their machines on a farm thought the mid 80's and then was stored. While having been ridden and enjoyed over the years this machine was adult owned, well maintained and ultimately saw very low overall use for it’s age - with a key indicator being the original tires showing around 80% tread remaining, along with fully intact factory original hand grips showing very little overall wear. Primary contact points when riding still retain near perfect paint coverage, Foot rests show no significant ware, wheels even retain a nice factory glow in the cloud silver paint. Original graphics and stickers are still all present. No restoration work, touch ups or refinishing was performed on this machine, and is being shown in it's authentic original state.
Being reported to be in perfect functioning factory condition – bike runs and idles perfectly, does not smoke, 5 speed semi auto with reverse shifts smoothly with quick throttle response, wheel bearings and brakes are all tight, Electric starter and secondary pull start all function as should. Factory original fenders are complete and without breaks, Original ohtsu pro-am tires in rear have no plugs and hold air as should as well as the AT101s. headlight and tail light also operate as intended at the hand switch with a hi-low beam in front. Partial tool kit still intact and machine also features an original dealer installed Hondaline tow hitch.
While being in excellent original condition, this machine does show some subtle signs of age and ware. The gas tank has developed some light oxidation as shown in photo below, but current owner states that it has not affected the in integrity of tank nor has any of the oxidation appeared in the inline fuel filters that were added to the original fuel lines which were not cut. Other areas on the machine also show light oxidation or subtle ware and scratches ( fuel tank cap / fuel tank inlet area ) but otherwise overall remains in amazing condition, showing that the machine was never abused and well cared for during it's 36 year journey.
Lost to time was the original set of keys to this machine by the original owner - after acquiring this time capsule the following maintenance was performed by the current owner - Oil, Spark Plug change as well replacement of keyed ignition and air filter with aftermarket units. Original bill of sale from the dealer that sold this machine, as well as original state registration accompany the sale, and create a perfect historical record for a bike that has remained in it's same state and region it's entire life. While not the most rare of Honda's now classic line up of ATV's and ATC's, we would say that the 1985 TRX125 if far from a common unit to be seen from the 1985 model year, with it's condition putting it well past most others that are still out there in the market.
